Practice self-care for you and your patients/clients.

This practical hands-on seminar focuses on an in-depth exploration of applied anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanical with key underlying themes of tissue specific identification, injury-based movement modification, and use of evidence-based best practices.

The primary focus will be identification and correction options for common injuries as they can be applied in both functional movements/poses and general clinical practice.

We review muscles, ligaments, joints, fascia and learn how compensation in one region can affect or cause imbalances in other regions and focus on the identification of prime movers, synergists, antagonists ‘nerve flossing’ and reciprocal inhibition/contract relax techniques as they apply to various poses and patient stretching techniques.

REGISTRATION OPTIONS: Attend in person or join live online.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
  • Morning Yoga stretching practice—all poses are attainable by any level of practitioner, with modifications and variations depending on your own and specific client/patient ability – learn to make yoga accessible and fun for all!
  • Practical demonstration and practice of core movements (squat, bird dog, dowel rod use, plank and others) and breathing with a strong biomechanics, kinesiology, and musculoskeletal pathology recognition and modification.
  • Practical demonstration, practice of assessment and common Yoga poses, focusing on active joint mobilizations, active myofascial release, and contract relax techniques skills.
  • Identify tissue specific structures (muscle, fascia, tendon, bone, ligament, nerve and viscera)
  • Discuss principles of biomechanics and kinesiology
  • Evaluate and correct poor respiratory patterns
  • Recognize when stabilization, strengthening or stretching programs are warranted
  • Integrate corrective exercises based on functional tests and basic movement patterns including functional movement patterns
  • Be able to use efficient biomechanics to save their bodies and last longer in practice
  • Achieve better results by identifying the true cause of pathology and work smarter not harder for the benefit of patients and clinical income
