Outline

Hour 1: Introduction to anatomy, palpation principles, and muscle testing basics.
Hour 2: Hands-on practice: palpation and basic muscle testing for select upper and lower extremity muscles.
Hour 3: Feedback, Q&A, and integration of findings into clinical cases.

Learning Objectives

- Understand anatomical variation and its implications for palpation and muscle testing.
- Perform basic palpation techniques to locate muscle origins, insertions, and actions.
- Conduct muscle testing using the 0–5 grading scale to evaluate strength and function.

In-person, 3 hours

Instructor

- Palpation techniques: locating origins, insertions, and nerve innervations.
- Muscle testing ABCs: proper positioning, stabilization, and grading criteria (0–5 scale).
- Introduction to common dysfunctions and clinical observations.
